Briggs & Stratton was developing the new DOV lawnmower engine. The goal was to make this engine stand out against increasing competition on the European market, both by technical specs and by styling. CE Masters was asked to design the covers for this engine.
A thorough design study including 30+ design sketches lead to three final proposals. These proposals were presented to the board of Briggs & Stratton at the Koln Messe in Germany. Two proposals were chosen for further development.
The first proposal would be dedicated to the Briggs and Stratton brand, the second would be dedicated to Viking (lawnmower brand, customer of Briggs and Stratton). A prototype was presented to the board of Viking in Austria.
Prototypes of both designs were supplied to Briggs & Stratton in the US for testing. CE Masters implemented the modifications for optimization of airflow and engine cooling.
Various design features of the covers have been registered in design patents.
