CE Masters has won the PTC Award Benelux 2009 with the mechanical development of RILA, an innovative measuring system that can be mounted on a regular passenger train.
The development included the design of the carbon composite housing, the GPS antenna and the metal adapter with which the system is mounted to the train. Various subassemblies have been analysed with FEM for optimization of stiffness and contact pressure. By Top-Down-Design with “poka yoke’ elements the overall design has been optimized in terms of production tolerances and lead time. In April 2009 Raildata started measuring Dutch rail tracks with this system.
