Application of TRIZ
The Problem Solving Team of CE Masters makes use of a very effective brainstorm technique called 'Keywords ®'. The technique has been derived from the original TRIZ method.
What is TRIZ?
TRIZ is a method that was developed by Russian inventor and science fiction writer Genrich Altshuller. TRIZ is the Russian acronym for "the theory of inventive problem solving".

Genrich Altshuller
History of TRIZ
In 1946 and following years Altschuller analysed tens of thoughsends of patents. He found patterns in the way problems where solved. He translated these patterns into his famous 40 TRIZ principles. During the years the method has been expanded and improved. In the 1980-ies the method started to spread. The method was graduately adopted throughout the world and various derived methods have been introduced. The rise of TRIZ is still ongoing. Nowadays TRIZ is being used at well known multinationals like Chrysler, Johnson & Johson, Ford, General Motors and Xerox.
How does TRIZ work?
According to TRIZ a problem can be interpreted as two contradicting requirements. This contradiction can be translated into a standard TRIZ-problem, and then to a standard TRIZ-solution from a database (which we have) and finally to a real-world solution for the initial problem.
The power of TRIZ
The 'Problem Solving & Concept Development Team' of CE Masters uses TRIZ on a regular basis. TRIZ can be very powerful, in situations in which a contradiction can be identified quite easily. The 40 TRIZ-principles 'trigger' a product developer to come up with surprising solutions which are not evident in his/her own field of expertise. However, like many other methods, TRIZ also has its limitations. In order to take away these limitations CE Masters developed the Keywords ® method.
TRIZ Keywords ©
The Problem Solving Team of CE Masters developed an associative method using keywords, most of which have been derived from the 40 TRIZ principles. A common approach is a free brainstorm, followed by a 'methodic' brainstorm using the TRIZ-Keywords ®. This generally doubles the total amount of ideas.
